Although it appears to be veritably inscribed in the artistic tradition, the artwork was in fact commissioned by Wes Anderson in 2014. It’s not the work of a Northern Renaissance painter, but rather that of Michael Taylor, a 21st century British artist.

In recent years, the role of graphic design in film has become more established, with more and more directors recognising the importance visual artists play in bringing their visions to life. That said, graphic design in film still remains, for some reason, an underrated and unpopular career path. But why is that? Is it too competitive? Too reliant on connections? Impossible to find a way in?

To accommodate their busy schedules and to get two different perspectives, we gave both graphic designers the same prompts. Here’s what each had to say about their experiences, things they’ve learned along the way and tips for budding graphic designers, and what they think about the current state and future of graphic design for film/TV.
